When it comes to collecting vintage chronographs, Breitling can be somewhat polarizing. Best known for their Navitimer line of aviation watches, some collectors can find their dials to be too hectic and difficult to read for daily wear. As a result, we feel that Breitling’s chronographs get swept under the table all together.

We'd like to change that, and this 'Long Playing' model, is one of the best ways we know how!

This particular piece, a Reference 820-4, dates to circa 1970, and remains in virtually new old stock (NOS) condition. It features a 42mm gold-plated cushion case, a gorgeous sunburst champagne Tritium dial with a matching handset, a tasteful tachymeter scale on the outer dial, and the venerable Valjoux 7736 hand-cranking chronograph movement within. Fitted to a perforated Raylle style strap, this one's both a stunner and a performer. It even retains its factory caseback sticker!

With sharp looks and a very period-style, it's not hard to see why these 1970s cushion-cased chronographs are developing a cult following.

These are wonderful timepieces that represent just about everything that we love about vintage and are overlooked by many, but absolutely should not be by you.
